With a 2.42:1 gear ratio and a "High Energy Rotation" bottom unit, the new DF50AV can run a larger 14-inch propeller, making it ideal for powering pontoon boats and other large, heavy vessels. Fuel efficiency is greatly increased by this method, even at low speeds and throughout the cruising range. Additionally, the Lean Burn Fuel Control System built into this mid-range engine modifies the air/fuel mixture according to the operating conditions of your vessel. The Suzuki Troll Mode System is an optional feature available on new DF50AV models as well.

The DF50AV is one of many models that features a zero-maintenance, self-adjusting time chain. The chain moves while running through an oil bath, lubricating the chain while the automatic hydraulic tensioner is properly adjusted at any given time during use.

Suzuki has pioneered the mutli-point sequential electronic fuel injection in their four-stroke outboards. Sensors from key areas of the engines process data and calculate the ideal amount of fuel and air needed for this advanced engine, all in real time.
