The DF40A is the only engine in the 40 HP class to provide DOHC performance and an oil-bathed timing chain that requires no maintenance, giving the outboard increased longevity and maintenance-free running. Suzuki's Lean Control System enhances fuel efficiency with designs that are more compact and lightweight than their predecessors, yet higher displacements provide more power and performance. The Suzuki Troll Mode System is also a feature of the new DF40A engines. At the 2011 Miami Boat Show, Suzuki Marine received the NMMA Innovation Award for the DF40A/DF50A from the Boating Writers of America.
